Court orders arrest of Atiku’s son

An Upper Area Court at Kubwa in Abuja has ordered the arrest of Atiku Abubakar’s son.

The Judge, Bashir Danmaisule issued the order following his failure to comply with a judgment ordering him to hand over their three sons to his divorced wife, Maryam Sherif.

Abubakar’s divorced wife had instituted the child custody case against Abubakar in court challenging the decision of her ex-husband to deny her custody of her children.

Judge Danmaisule delivered judgement on October 27, 2020 in her favour.

However, the defendant failed to obey the judgement and court order.

Sherif’s lawyer, Nasir Saidu returned to court seeking the issuance of a judgment-debtor summons for the defendant to appear in court to tell the court why he refused to obey the order and why he should not be committed to prison.

Saidu told the court that he served the summons on the defendant through the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) where he works on November 3, 2020.

He further appealed to the court to issue an order for the defendant to be arrested and imprisoned until he complies with the judgment of the court.

However, both the defendant and his lawyer, Abdullahi Hassan were absent in court
