Chike Akunyili: Buhari govt using killings as ploy to install APC in Anambra – Isiguzoro alleges

The Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has said the Federal Government may declare a state of emergency in Anambra State soon.

Reacting to the killing of Chike Akunyili and others in the Southeast, The Ohanaeze factional scribe said the Federal Government was using the killings as a plot to install an All Progressives Congress, APC, governor in Anambra State.

Chike, who is the husband of the former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, was killed on Tuesday on his way from Onitsha to Umuoji at Eke Nkpor.

Reacting, Isiguzoro said “The slaughter of Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband of late Prof Dora Akunyili is atrocious, horrendous, unacceptable, and barbaric.”

In a statement, Isiguzoro said those behind the killing of Akunyili should be arrested and dealt with.

The statement reads: “Governor Willie Obiano should ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime and murder are brought to face the consequences of their actions before the laws of the land, or the Federal Government might use the pretence of the proclamation of the southeast as a RED ZONE to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State before the Anambra Guber elections.

“Federal Government is gradually closing the doors of negotiations on southeast politicians, as there might be a declaration of a State of emergency in Anambra State based on the high profile killings and uprising in the state, as a political gimmick to usher in APC Governor in Anambra through a sole administrator who might replace Gov Obiano and supervise the Anambra Governorship Elections”.
