Hoodlums seize Rivers United bus at gunpoint

The club bus of Nigeria Professional Football League side Rivers United was on Sunday seized at gunpoint by suspected hoodlums in Okigwe, Imo State.
In a statement by the club’s media officer, Sammy Wejinya, the suspected hoodlums were led by a former player of defunct Dolphins FC.
“One of the officials of Rivers United FC, Charles Ahuzi, was badly beaten during the unfortunate incident,” Weijinya said.
According to him, the incident happened at the Okigwe Stadium after Rivers had defeated home side Heartland FC 2-0.
Police Public Relations Officer, Imo State Police Command, Ikeokwu Orlando, however, debunked the attack.
“Nothing like that happened in Okigwe on Sunday, except maybe on their way going back to Port Harcourt, because after the match, they left the stadium, there was no fracas, there was no problem and they left,” Orlando told The PUNCH on Monday.
“I don’t know at what point the incidence happened but they never reported to the police anywhere,” he added.
