Russia reacts to Putin’s ‘planned resignation’

Russian President, Vladimir Putin is not planning to resign due to health conditions.

Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov made the declaration on Friday in reaction to a UK media report.

Peskov stressed that Putin is in good health.

“He is in excellent health,” TASS news agency quoted him as saying.

The Sun had reported that the Russian leader plans to quit in 2021, citing alleged symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

It referred to observers’ study of a recent footage where Putin’s leg appeared to be in constant motion while he seemed to be in pain clutching the armrest of a chair.

The tabloid added that the President’s fingers seemed to be twitching while he held a cup believed to contain painkillers.

The lower house of Russia’s legislature has proposed a law that could provide Russian ex-presidents immunity from criminal prosecution in their lifetimes.

Putin was first elected as president in 2000.
