McConnell Vows To Go Against Biden Picks To Lead EPA, Interior Dept
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he plans to oppose the nominations of a pair of picks for Joe Biden’s cabinet. He spoke on the Senate floor today and said he will not support North Carolina regulator Michael Regan to lead the EPA or New Mexico Rep. Deb Haaland (D) for interior secretary.
The Kentucky Republican claimed both picks support far-left policies, including the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan and the Green New Deal, which will crush jobs in his state and across the country.
“We have every reason to believe that voting for Mr. Regan and Representative Haaland would be voting to raise gas taxes for families who are already struggling, voting to raise fuel and heating bills for seniors on a fixed income, voting to take the tough times we’ve been going through and making them even tougher,” McConnell said.
The Senate is expected to vote on Regan’s nomination as early as Thursday. Meanwhile, Haaland’s nomination is expected to be voted on next week.
