Born Haim Witz in Tirat Carmel, Israel, Simmons has become an icon in his industry as the front man of KISS, where he plays the character of "the Demon." GLAAD, a media advocacy organization for people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or queer, announced on Monday that the power couple will be honored at the GLAAD Media Awards later this month. The Carters will receive the organization's Vanguard Award, which acknowledges individuals who have made a "significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people."
