Microsoft Announces Upcoming Demise of Internet Explorer

(Dreamstime) It has been 25 years since Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser came on the scene, and soon it will leave the technological stage, ending an era. "With Microsoft Edge capable of assuming this responsibility and more, the Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10," the  company announced  this week. According to Microsoft, some functionality will remain within its Edge browser with an "Internet Explorer mode." "Not only is Microsoft Edge a faster, more secure, and more modern browsing experience than Internet Explorer, but it is also able to address a key concern: compatibility for older, legacy websites and applications," the statement said. Somtochukwu Onuchukwu was at home in Abuja’s Kubwa neighbourhood when a team of police officers broke in on Friday morning, the Gazette learnt from his friends. He was then taken away by the officers at about 11:30 a.m. following an initial standoff of about 25 minutes. He is now being held at the police area command in Kubwa, associates said. His wife, Ada, confirmed the arrest to the Gazette, saying the police claimed something her husband did was against the law but without elaborating. A spokesman for the police in Abuja did not immediately return a message seeking comments from the Gazette on the arrest of Mr. Onuchukwu, an ICT consultant based in Abuja. Abuja plane crash: Air Force confirms 7 personnel dead, orders investigation

The Nigeria Air Force has confirmed that seven personnel died on board a military aircraft which crashed at Abuja Airport on Sunday. DAILY POST had reported that the military aircraft, King Air 350 crashed on Sunday morning on the runway of Abuja airport. Confirming the incident, Air Force Director of public relations and information, Air Vice Marshall Ibikunle Daramola, disclosed that an investigation has been ordered to determine cause of plane crash. He urged public to remain calm as he commiserated with families of deceased. On his official Twitter page, he wrote: “This is to confirm that a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Beechcraft KingAir B350i aircraft crashed while returning to the Abuja Airport after reporting engine failure enroute Minna. First responders are at the scene. (Evan Vucci/AP) President Joe Biden has ordered the Commerce Department to include illegal immigrants in the U.S. Census count for the apportionment of members to the House of Representatives, reversing the Trump administration policy which critics failed to halt by court action. "The Secretary [of Commerce] shall report the tabulation of total population by state that reflects the whole number of persons whose usual residence was in each state as of the designated census date in section 141(a) of title 13, United States Code, without regard to immigration status," the  executive order signed Wednesday reads in part .   The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, on Friday, said the Federal Government’s planned sale of public assets will benefit Nigerians and help to boost the economy. In an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Mrs Ahmed, who is also the Minister of Budget and National Planning, said some government assets are currently moribund and provide little or no value to Nigerians in their current state. “There are some government assets that are dead that can be sold to the private sector to be reactivated and put to use for the benefit of Nigerians,” the Minister said. “So we are looking at different – and I am a member of the National Council on Privatisation – we are looking at different categories of government assets that government has not been able to manage, that are lying down and in some cases even completely rundown, to cede them off to the private sector.
