CHANGE YOUR NAME TO MUSA OR MUHAMMADU, BUHARI SIGNALED ONNOGHEN VIA SUSPENTION

The present actions of Muhammadu Buhari to the rest of the Nigeria ethnic groups are a clear indication that the “One Nigeria” concept is a ploy. Apparently, the Niger Deltas and the entire easterners should know that they are included in the scheme of things in the country except they are prepared to join the band of thieves termed APC. After claiming that he was not aware of the CJN’s detention, Buhari went along to replace him with a Muhamed to save APC over their intended vote robbery.  The President announced the suspension at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday. He said the action followed the order of the CCT directing him to suspend Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial. President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeira (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. OLE GUNNAR HAS MADE MANU VERY DANGEROUS – ARSENAL MANAGER

Arsenal manager Unai Emery says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Manchester United a much more dangerous team since taking over from Jose Mourinho. Emery’s side host United in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday and the Spaniard expects a stern test from Solskjaer’s revitalised team. Arsenal drew 2-2 with United at Old Trafford in the Premier League last month, shortly before Mourinho was sacked as manager after a wretched run of results. Since then, Solskjaer, hired from Molde as interim boss, has overseen seven successive wins in all competitions. Solskjaer’s approach has won over a United squad that grew tired of Mourinho’s spikey personality, and Emery is suitably impressed. “It’s a different team. It’s the same players but they’re playing with a big performance now,” Emery told reporters on Wednesday. “I was watching their last matches and each player has a lot of confidence, with big performances, and now they are very dangerous. “For us, it’s good because it’s a ve

REAL MADRID TAKE TOP SPOT FROM UNITED IN ‘MONEY LEAGUE

Real Madrid players line up before the UEFA Champions League group G football match between Real Madrid CF and AS Roma at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid. GABRIEL BOUYS / AFP Real Madrid have knocked Manchester United off the top of Deloitte’s Football Money League, but the Premier League still flexed its financial muscle, with all of England’s ‘Big Six’ featuring in the top 10 for the first time. The Deloitte list ranked clubs on how much money they earn from broadcasting, commercial deals and match-day revenues during the 2017-18 season. United had spent the last two years in first place in the financial charts, but they have slipped to third behind European champions Real and Spanish giants Barcelona. Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Paris St Germain, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham make up the rest of the top 10. Dan Jones, the report’s author and a partner in the Sports Business Group at Deloitte, said: “European football remains a bull market. “W

NEYMAR EXPECTING A MIRACLE AFTER FRESH INJURY

Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian forward Neymar is tackled by Strasbourg’s Tunisian midfielder Moataz Zemzemi during the French Cup round of 32 football match between PSG and Strasbourg in Paris on January 23, 2019. FRANCK FIFE / AFP Paris Saint-Germain talisman Neymar suffered a fresh injury to his right metatarsal in the holders’ French Cup win over Strasbourg, the club said Thursday. A fractured metatarsal curtailed the Brazilian’s campaign last season, and the recurrence comes just three weeks ahead of the first leg of PSG’s crunch Champions League clash against Manchester United. Neymar posted a photo of himself leaving the pitch on Instagram, with a caption saying: “Your will be done, my God.” The severity of the new injury is not yet known, although Neymar was able to walk off the field unsupported. “Initial tests carried out revealed a painful reactivation of the injury to the fifth metatarsal,” a club statement said Thursday. “The treatment will depend on progr

EMILIANO SALA IS YET TO BE FOUND

Rescue workers on Thursday spent a third day hunting for a missing plane near the British island of Guernsey carrying new Premier League player Emiliano Sala, who is now presumed dead along with the pilot. The light aircraft transporting the Argentine striker, who signed for Cardiff City at the weekend, disappeared from radar around 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Guernsey on Monday night. “The search is ongoing and a decision about continuing will be made once all assets have completed this morning’s search pattern,” Guernsey police said on Twitter at 1050 GMT. Police on the island, which sits off the north coast of France, had earlier announced a resumption of the search after suspending efforts overnight. Officials scoured the uninhabited island of Burhou, northeast of Guernsey, by foot Thursday morning, according to the force. “No trace of the aircraft or those on board has been found,” it added. Multiple aircraft, including from Britain and France, and lifeboats

HUGE SURPRISES ABOUT THE CHINESE

While the range of variation of glazes is difficult to establish from brief written descriptions, the grey body, yingqing (pale bluish white), greenish grey, celadon, thick yellow and brown glazes with a propensity to peel, all appear to indicate wares made locally in Fujian, such as Nan’an, Cizaoshan, and Jianyang. Several evidences still remain as proofs of ancient civilization in the Chinese settlement. We know of the Shangai empire and others in the Chinese belt, but little or no much information is had about the much later civilization in the Chinese settlement of Quanzhou, Fujian, not

ASUU-FG CRISIS AND UNIVERSITY EDUCATION’S SLOW DEATH

Image
Nigeria’s education is crumbling. Some even say it has crumbled. University teachers are distraught but in no mood for any compromise after years of broken promises by successive governments. The die is cast and for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), it is no retreat, no surrender, writes Head, Education Desk, IYABO LAWAL. The chequered history of the relationship between successive Nigerian governments and ASUU is riddled with half-promises, empty promises, and broken promises. As the two parties met last Monday, it was apparent that little or nothing would be accomplished at the end of the day. Yet, it was learnt, representatives of ASUU went into that meeting with some hope. However, after four hours of intense discussion, the ASUU party came out of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment office, wearing long faces, an ominous sign that the ‘warring’ parties could not reach a conclusion that will put an end to a strike that began in November 2018 – which
