They told the president not to repeat the mistake of his current administration which they noted, did not consider the interest of some geopolitical zones for key appointments, especially in the security sector. Speaking on behalf of the groups at a rally held at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, Thursday, Speaker, Arewa Youth Assembly, Mohammed Danlami, said “recent events in the nation signal a steady reversal of the expectations of the founding fathers of Nigeria that this shall be a country based upon the principle of liberal democracy in which citizens shall have freedom of choice and be treated equally.” According to him, “What the nation requires is mature nationalistic leadership that will accommodate all Nigerians and provide an all-inclusive fair treatment for all the divergent groups in the country on the basis of equality and fairness to everybody.” Reading a prepared speech before newsmen at the event,Mr Danlami said:” For Nigeria to survive, thrive and flourish in peace

THE IGBO WERE IJAW SLAVES - ASARI DOKUBO

Image
Irony is the euphemism of falsehood. This is true with Ijaw history. Asari Dokubo foolishly called critics attention towards unveilling the subservient lifestyle to their Igbo landlord. Rather than accept his fate and work towards recreating his sad history, he claimed Igbo were Ijaw servants. But history is sometime very despicable, in the real sense, Ijaw father was given to an Ignorant mercenary warrior as a reward. So, who is actually the servant; the Igbo or the Ijaw? See the topic below for clarifications. See also  Origin of the Ijaw nation O ne thing I find very difficult doing is to write of speak something I know could be proved against me. My fear for doing so is that when the true story is unveiled, I would worth nothing to my long enjoyed audience. I cannot claim that my noble community founded by the legend Onoja Oboni is older than Eha-Amufu or Umuhualu, when I know that my community derived her name from her peaceful passage through Eha-Amufu; and also that the trad

JUBILATION TODAY AS TAIWAN LEGALISES SAME SEX MARRIAGE

Image
Taiwan's parliament has become the first in Asia to legalise same-sex marriage following a vote on Friday. Parliament was given a two-year deadline and was required to pass the changes by 24 May. Lawmakers debated three different bills to legalise same-sex unions and the government's bill, the most progressive of the three, was passed. Thousands of gay rights supporters gathered in the rain outside the parliament building in the capital, Taipei, to await the landmark ruling. There were shouts of joy and some tearful embraces as the result was announced. However, conservative opponents were angered by the vote. What does the bill entail? The two other bills, submitted by conservative lawmakers, refer to partnerships as "same-sex family relationships" or "same-sex unions" rather than "marriages". But the government's bill, also the only one to offer limited adoption rights, was passed by 66 to 27 votes - backed by lawmakers

THE ARO/IBIBIO WAR (How the Ibibio Left their Homeland)

Image
Read also   Origin of the Arochukwu People  S o many things have been said about the Aro/Ibibio war, but all the writers have hidden the real truth; maybe intentionally, or due to ignorance. Had anyone discussed it with certain fancy and intention to conceal certain vital information simply because it may arouse certain unpleasant feelings, then I give him kudos. This is what Ama Ata Aidoo remarked that in writing about a people of one’s own, there are aspects of the life of the people one needs not bring to book. But this was not the situation; it is simple that they did not know the war in its exact. If any of these writers had heard the correct version of this Aro/Ibibio war he would have stated the main cause of the war, but none did. They should be kind to state that the war was caused by the Aro. The Aro we know today had one distinct character that made them difficult to live together with others in the same area. Before the modern era and its civilization, the Aro
