Micro-pension contributors hit 30,000 in 7 months

The Micro Pension plan was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari in March 2019. It is aimed at extending pension coverage to the self-employed and persons working in the informal sector to drive financial inclusion and allow the target population to have a sustainable old age income after their retirement. She said, “Total registration under the Plan has remained around 30,000 contributors as at 31 October 2019. The non-issuance of the Regulation on Fees Structure for the Plan has been the key challenge dragging its full implementation. It is expected that the Regulation will be issued before January 2020, in which case we would see more drive in registering contributors under the Plan.” The PenCom boss further said the performance of the Commission during the year has been great – an A+ and that the facts are verifiable.  “No doubt, PenCom is today the best financial regulator in the country for its achievement in regulating an industry from scratch to a world class

Benjamin Netanyahu claims victory in Likud party leadership contest

An hour after polls closed Thursday night, Netanyahu tweeted, "Huge victory! I thank the Likud members for the trust, the support and the love. With god's help and with your help, I will lead the Likud to a great victory in the coming (March) election and we'll continue leading the state of Israel to unprecedented achievements." Official results of the leadership race are expected early Friday. Despite facing criminal indictment on  charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust , as well as failing to form a government after elections in April and September, Netanyahu was the favorite against hardline right-wing politician Gideon Sa'ar. Sa'ar later conceded, tweeting, "Congratulations to the Prime Minister on his victory in the primaries. My colleagues and I will stand behind him in campaigning for the Likud's success in the general elections. This contest was immensely important to the Likud and its democratic character." Isra

Photograph: Matt Watson/Getty Images Chelsea had been flying after their  victory at Tottenham on Sunday, which felt like a defining moment for Frank Lampard and the evolution of his young team. This was a crash back down to earth, further evidence of a maddening inconsistency. Southampton’s win was perfectly judged and entirely merited, ignited by a special first-half goal from the 19-year-old Michael Obafemi and driven by their second-half threat on the break. Nathan Redmond scored the goal that made the points safe – he was a thorn in Chelsea’s side – but this was a team triumph, built on the firm central defensive contributions of Jack Stephens and Jan Bednarek. The midfielders, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and James Ward-Prowse, were also excellent. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang salvages draw for Arsenal at Bournemouth   Read more Chelsea have
