Edo Guber: Okowa, Ben Bruce, Apostle Suleman react as Obaseki defeats Ize-Iyamu

Governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the successful conduct of the Edo State governorship election. INEC’s Returning Officer in Edo State declared Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, winner of the election after polling 307,955 votes. According to results collated in 18 LGAs early Sunday, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won in 15 local government areas of the state. Obaseki, who is the PDP’s governorship candidate, defeated his closest rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Okowa, reacting on his Twitter page, hoped that the lessons from Edo election will be corrected in the upcoming Ondo election. On his Twitter page, Okowa wrote: “I must commend INEC for a job-well-done in #EdoDecides. “It is my hope that the lessons learnt from this election, will be corrected in #OndoDecides — in order to continue to improve our electoral systems.” NEWS:   Trump escaped death plot

PDP Supporters Jubilate As Obaseki Defeats Ize-Iyamu

  Ecstatic supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have occupied the streets in Benin City, the state capital in jubilation. The supporters are seen at the roundabout at Ramat Park, King Square, and the state Assembly Complex in wild jubilation. They are celebrating the victory of Godwin Obaseki who defeated Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and was returned elected after polling the highest number of votes in the keenly-contested poll. The jubilation has led to traffic build-up in the area but armed security personnel is on the ground to maintain law and order in the area. At the Ring Road area of the state where the State House of Assembly is situated, youths can be seen in wild jubilation. Godwin Obaseki Re-Elected Edo State Governor

  Mr Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defeated Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to win a second term as governor of Edo State. Governor Obaseki was returned elected after polling the highest number of votes in the keenly-contested poll conducted on Saturday. INEC Returning Officer for the poll declared the governor as the winner on Sunday at the office of the electoral umpire in Benin City, which doubled as the final collation centre. The governor secured 307,955 of the total votes, 84,336 more votes than his closest rival Ize-Iyamu, who got 223, 619 votes. A total of 14 political parties fielded candidates to jostle for the office of the governor in the state. It is the first governorship poll to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) since the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
