Papa Bouba Diop dies at 42

Former Senegal midfielder, Papa Bouba Diop, has died at the age of 42. According to the UK Mirror, Bouba Diop had been suffering with a long-time illness, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. His former club, RC Lens, paid tribute on Twitter, writing: “It is with great sadness that Racing Club de Lens has just learned of the disappearance of its former player Papa Bouba Diop , at the age of 42. “We offer our deepest condolences to his loved ones.” So too did the world governing body FIFA, who declared: “FIFA is saddened to learn of the passing of Senegal legend Papa Bouba Diop. “Once a World Cup hero, always a World Cup hero.” Follow us on twitter (ajuede.com) or on Instagram (ajuedeman) for details of the global situation presently.

Doctor’s office is investigated over Maradona death probe

Argentine police have searched the home and office of one of Diego Maradona’s doctors, taking away medical records as part of investigations into the death of the 60-year-old football star that caused a wave of grief across the country. Neurologist Leopoldo Luque told reporters after the searches that he had given investigators all of the records of his treatment of Maradona, as well as computers, hard drives and cellphones. Weeping at times, he insisted he defended his treatment of the troubled football legend, who died on Wednesday of a heart attack following a November 3 brain operation. “I know what I did. I know how I did it … I am absolutely sure that what I did the best for Diego, the best I could,” he said on Sunday. Luque said he was not Maradona’s chief physician, but part of a medical team. Gunmen kill Benue varsity lecturer

Benue state Police Command has confirmed the killing of Karl Kwaghger, an Associate Professor with the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi (UMA), by unknown gunmen on Saturday night. The deceased lectured at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the university. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Catherine Anene, told the News Agency of Nigeria NAN on Sunday in Makurdi that the lecturer’s body was found around 11p.m. within the Tarka Foundation premises, Makurdi. The state-owned Tarka Foundation houses a hotel and many other sports facilities which draw many people almost round the clock. Anene, however, said that the command had yet to make any arrest or unravel the reason behind the killing, but added that investigation was ongoing. Sean Connery's official cause of death revealed after the late James Bond star's family confirmed the news

Sean Connery’s  cause of death has been revealed.  The legendary actor, best known for being the first peron to portray  James Bond  in a movie,  died earlier this year  at age 90 after stepping out of the spotlight many years prior to his death.  According to  TMZ , which cites the Scottish actor’s death certificate, he died in his sleep from pneumonia, heart failure and old age. Specifically, Connery reportedly died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia as well as atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rate that can cause an increased risk of strokes, heart failure and other complications.  The certificate confirms what Connery’s family said to Fox News at the time of his death. He died on Oct. 31 at around 1 a.m. at his home in the Bahamas. Probe Remains Underway In Deadly Brooklyn Sweet 16 Shooting

The NYPD is offering a $10,000 reward for information on a shooting at a ‘Sweet 16’ after-party in east New York. On Friday, the department made the announcement in search of any information on the four suspected shooters. According to  reports , the shooting occurred on November 22 when the gunmen opened fire inside a Brooklyn apartment building. Seven people were shot in total, including 20-year-old Daijyonna Long, who was killed. Authorities believe there was more than one shooter involved and that at least four different guns were used. “We have ballistic evidence outside by the front door of this building, in the lobby,” NYPD Deputy Chief Michael Kemper noted. “And going up to the third floor.” Investigators are exploring the possibility this shooting could be linked to another one that occurred just a couple of hours earlier at a different party in the city.     A former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has urged the government to up the ante in dealing with the menace of crime and insecurity in the country. Reacting to the recent killings in Borno State and across the country, Duke said the nation’s security system needs a total overhaul especially in the areas of weaponry, the levels of education and training, as well as the welfare of officers. According to the former governor, crime is now a very sophisticated business and those who are employed to fight the menace need to at least be at par with the perpetrators. “The level of people we bring into the Force is a bit too low.
