Republicans target vulnerable House Democrats amid Biden fossil fuel crackdown

Image
Republicans  are already targeting vulnerable  Democrats  in states like  Texas  and  Pennsylvania , where many jobs depend on oil or natural gas, as  President Biden  recommits to the Paris climate agreement and makes other reversals of his predecessor's environmental policy. "By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Biden indicates he's more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh. This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans," Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, wrote on  Twitter  earlier in January. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.,  said  Biden's energy policies mean the U.S. is headed for "$5 a gallon at the pump and higher home energy bills," while Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel  accused  Biden of destroying jobs through "his radical Green New Deal-inspired agenda." Many Democrats, including Rep. Abigail Spanber

New service chiefs: ‘Thank you’ – Nwodo tells Buhari for snubbing Igbos again

Image
A former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for snubbing the South East in his appointment of new service chiefs. Buhari had on Tuesday sacked his service chiefs and this came after many months of public pressure. The old ones, who many Nigerians believe lost ideas on how to tackle the insecurity in the country, were replaced by Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral AZ Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao, Chief of Air Staff. But there was no one of Igbo extraction in the list, raising the speculations that the President purposely snubbed the South East in the major appointments. “Gen Buhari, thanks for making us in Igboland feel, once more, that we are not fit to head any of the Security services,” Nwodo said in a terse statement, according to Vanguard. Recall that the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Pu

‘Psychological war’: Iran dismisses Israel military action threat

President Hassan Rouhani’s chief of staff said the Biden administration is independent and will not follow all Israeli commands like the previous US government, after Israel announced it is revising attack plans against Iran. Israel’s military is preparing “a number of operational plans, in addition to those already in place” in reaction to Iran boosting its nuclear programme in recent months, top general Aviv Kochavi  said  on Tuesday. His comments were seen as a threat to new United States President Joe Biden, who has signalled he wants to re-enter the historic nuclear accord signed between Iran and world powers in 2015. Iran’s presidential chief of staff Mahmoud Vaezi dismissed Kochavi’s remarks as “psychological war” and said Israel “in action, they neither have a plan nor the ability to carry it out”. “Some officials in the Zionist regime think Washington would accept whatever they say,” he told reporters on Wednesday after a cabinet meeting. “But I believe the new US administra

Federal judge blocks Biden’s 100-day moratorium on deportations

Video Don Rosenberg, president of Advocates for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime, accuses President Biden of playing politics with his immigration policy. A federal judge on Tuesday temporarily blocked  President Biden’s  attempt to put a moratorium on  deportations  for 100 days. After Texas sued over the policy, the judge blocked Biden, via a temporary restraining order, from moving forward for 14 days. Texas’ lawsuit claims that the administration would be violating an agreement it has with the Department of Homeland Security – and would require at least 180 days’ notice, as well as consultation, prior to implementing changes in immigration policy. It is unclear whether those terms are enforceable, but similar agreements were struck with several other states under the former administration. The U.S. district judge implemented a nationwide injunction because a geographically-limited order would not adequately protect Texas’ interests due to "the free flow of movement" of ille
