New COVID-19 variant in New York City ‘definitely one to watch’

Jim Justice outlines vaccine distribution program on 'Special Report' Researchers studying  COVID-19  and its variants across the U.S. have expressed concern over a mutation found in New York City that could diminish the effectiveness of vaccines on the virus. The New York Times  reported  that researchers at Caltech and Columbia University studied the mutation, called B.1.526. One scientist told the paper he was more concerned about the variant in New York than the one in California. The report said that the researchers found that E484K and S477N mutations present in more than a quarter of samples in the study.  The E484K mutation has been called the "escape mutation" because it could help COVID-19 evade a human immune response, and the S477N mutation creates spike proteins that affect how it attaches to cells. The paper pointed out that the study has not been peer-reviewed. Kristian A

The Kardashian sister and co-founder of fashion brand, Good American, recently unveiled a new promotional campaign for the company’s first footwear collection.  In a new photograph  for the campaign, Kardashian, 36, is seen modeling the brand’s Icon Pumps — but fans were quick to comment on the size of her "elongated" limbs. "The pictures are too elongated," one commenter wrote. "It started with the latest Skims ad. Stop this." "Why are her feet so long," another commenter asked. Kardashian was quick to respond and clear any confusion — citing that it was the angle of the camera and the type of lens that created the look. NAF Plane Crash: Burial Of Beechcraft King Air 350 Crew Commences In Abuja

    The burial ceremony of seven Airforce Officers who lost their lives on Sunday has commenced at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja. The officers were crew members of the ill-fated Beechcraft King Air 350 that crashed at Bassa village near the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport while on a reconnaissance mission to Niger State. A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigeria Airforce, Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola says the Aircraft reported engine failure shortly after take-off from Abuja and were on their way back to base when the crash occurred. Present at the ceremony is the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi. Also Present are other Service Chiefs led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Irabor. The relatives of the late officers are also present at the cemetery where not an eye is 

2019 guber candidate, others defect to PDP

The 2019 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) in the 2019 election, Engr. Ahmad Ibrahim Gusau has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He announced that he has collapsed all his former party’s structure. Gusau, who defected along with the state Party Chairman, Alhaji A. A Bagudu and the Vice chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bala Gusau said they took the decision to move the State forward. The PDM gubernatorial candidate announced his defection before Governor Matawalle and donated the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDP) secretariat to the Peoples Democratic Party in the State. “We decided to join Governor Bello Matawalle and the PDP in order to show our appreciation to the governor’s security approach which has yielded positive result and now requires every well meaning Zamfara State citizen’s support.” Ahmad further said that the transformational stance of the Governor was marvellous and encouraging, urging him to sustain it for the progress of the State.
