Texas House Passes Open Carry Bill In Final Vote

( Photo  by T.J. Kirkpatrick/Getty Images) Texas lawmakers have passed a bill that would allow adults over 21 years of age to carry a gun without a permit or a license. The ‘ Constitutional Carry’ bill  passed the State House in a final vote Friday. The bill seeks to no longer require Texans to take written exams  or training  tests before purchasing a handgun. Handguns will still be illegal in schools, sporting events and hospitals. The bill’s sponsor, State Representative  Matt Schaefer  (R) said the legislation would allow more people to be able to protect  themselves  and their families.

Rep. Gohmert: Twitter ‘Part Of High-Tech Oligarchy’

(Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images) Texas Representative Louie Gohmert (R) said Twitter has been part of what he calls the “high-tech oligarchy.” Gohmert  spoke  on the House floor Friday and slammed the social media giant over its alleged habit of targeting conservatives on the platform. He specifically noted the recent suspension of Project Veritas Founder James O’Keefe’s account. Gohmert reiterated that Twitter claimed to have taken action against O’Keefe’s account after he allegedly violated its rules on platform manipulation and spam. Reports on Friday said out of the 73 West Point cadets accused in the biggest cheating scandal the military academy has witnessed since 1976, eight were expelled and 51 are required to repeat a year. The cadets were accused of cheating on an online freshman calculus exam in May, after professors noticed suspicious answers. Biden demands Republicans move on gun background check bill

President Biden  Friday demanded the Republicans in the  Senate  move on passing gun background check legislation, calling the string of mass shootings and gun violence a "national embarrassment." Biden pushed the Senate to take a vote on  House-passed legislation  that would expand background checks and close certain loopholes. "I strongly, strongly urge my Republican friends in the Congress who refuse to bring up the House-passed bill to bring it up now," Biden said. "This has to end. It's a national embarrassment." Speaking at a joint White House press conference Friday with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, Biden was pressed on whether he needs to prioritize police reform and gun control measures in the wake of more mass shootings and police-related deaths. Rep. Greene Announce Creation Of ‘America First Caucus’

(Photo by ALEX EDELMAN/AFP via Getty Images) Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) announced  the creation  of the “America First Caucus.” The lawmakers released a manifesto for the new political group Friday. Memo released by America First Caucus Green and Gosar have called on potential members to embody a “certain  intellectual boldness” and to follow in President Trump’s footsteps. According to a memo by the caucus, it is also calling for “common respect for  uniquely  Anglo-Saxon political  traditions .” Rep. Barry Moore (R-Ala.)
