Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) claimed Democrats’ top priority is to change the rules to stay in power.

At a press conference on Thursday, Cruz said the party’s push for Washington D.C. to become the 51st state and to pack the Supreme Court is a way to ensure they will never lose their position of control.

His comments came the same day the House approved D.C. as the 51st state, with the vote now going to the Senate.

Cruz went on to say what the Democrats are doing is corrupt.

“So what are Senate Democrats trying to do? They’re trying to add new senators to the Senate so they keep control forever. They’re trying to change voting in America so Democrats can never lose,” Cruz stated. “And they want to pack the U.S. Supreme Court with four left wing radicals. This is an assault fundamentally on the independence of the judiciary.”

Cruz also said anyone who disagrees with their plan is deemed a racist and Democrats keep playing the race card because it’s the only one they have in their hand.
