Origin and History of Anang People - Onyeji Nnaji

Image
The Anaang were formerly located in the former  Abak and  Ikot Ekpene  Divisions of the Anaang Province, as well as part of the former  Opobo  Division of  Uyo Province, in the former Eastern Region of  Nigeria . The proper name for the  Ika  of  Akwa Ibom  is  Ika-Annang . Based on 2018 estimates, there are about 4 million Annang speakers in Akwa Ibom.  The  Anaang  (also spelled  Annang ) are a  Southern Nigerian  ethnic group  whose land is primarily within 8 of the present 31  local  government areas  in  Akwa Ibom  State :  Abak ,  Essien Udim ,  Etim Ekpo ,  Ika ,  Ikot Ekpene ,  Obot Akara ,  Oruk Anam ,  Ukanafun  in  Akwa Ibom State.  Ugwunagbo ,  Obi Ngwa ,and  Ukwa West  of  Abia  State  are other people believed to be part of the Anang's history. Origin of the Anang Prople Clear observation made in the course of my stay in Akwa-Ibom is an inherited hatred for Igbo. They claim that Igbo are dominating; the same claim by other tribes. But Akwa-Ibom case is naturally histo

Igbo Origin of Ibibio People - Onyeji Nnaji

Image
T he Ibibio people are claimed to be the earliest inhabitants of the south southern Nigeria. It is estimated that they arrived at their present home around 7000 B.C. In spite of the historical account, it is not clear when the Ibibio arrived at their present state. Ibibio and Anongs that are closely tied to one state and share almost everything together were not of the same parent as people cofusedly think. In fact, both nations were never of the same community in the beginning. The base of this confused historical perspective is the language both nation's speak. One who thinks so should also recall that the Efik speak similar language too. The reason is not far-fetched. During the Aro/Ibibio war  of the 9000BC when the Ibibio were driven from their original homeland, the Ibibio vacated the area and moved to Osangele, a new home founded by the Efik towards the Cameroon mountain. There the Ibibio got her new tongue characterising them as people of the same language group with the Ef

Who is Chukwuokike-abiama? - Onyeji Nnaji

When someone learns something from home it is always very difficult to unlearn. But the essence of judgement is that one should be able to juxtapose what he is learning newly and the ones he already knows to be able to speak vividly on which is correct. That was the difficulty Camara Laye lamented the very time he was introduced to Western education.  In the cause of completing the IGBO history but reaching out to the four nations that are symbolically mentioned by the Igbo oral tale, I came across this term in Nsukka. According to elders at Dunuka, I was told thus, "When Nsukka ancestors arrived like other ancestors of the Igbo race, Eri (The first man to descend) and other elders set out on a journey to the new land inhabited by another band of celestial brethren. It was remarked by the Igbo oral thought that Eri lived for four thousand years. He lived to the appearance of all the Ncestors of the igbo race before he ascended back to the cosmos. According to the Nag Hammadi, the

Who Does Nelly Ofoegbu Call "IDUU"? - Onyeji Nnaji

Image
Very pertinent to note, the name is Idu; not Iduu. Idu is the name of a man, while Iduu was invented by Dr. Nelly Ofoegbu following the abduction of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in 2021. I have told her this personally and later, openly via the letter I wrote to her in December 31st, 2021. She invented Iduu to lead people away from the true Biafrans struggle which Nnamdi Kanu stands for. Nelly did not know about Idu until she heard it from Nnamdi Kanu. Unfortunately, Nelly did not know the people referred to by the term Idu.  See also:  My Letter of Advice to Nelly Ofoegbu If you have followed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's speech carefully, you will remember sometime in 2019 when he said, The North do not have the same history with other Arabic nations. But because they share the same belief in Allah, they are seen as brethren and have always had the support of Arab world. We share in the same faith with Israelite but we are saying we are not related. "Which is better, accepting that we are

WHO IS IDU? - Onyeji Nnaji

W e have been led astray in the course of hearing the history we think we do not know. But in the actual sense, it is not that we are supposed to be ignorant of this aspect of history; our problem is that we are too busy to give time to knowing who we are. Rather than make inquires, we prefer whatever anybody can tell us. I feel greatly ashamed beholding an Igbo person still speak of Israeli or Egypt ancestry for the Igbo. Idu was the leader of the third set of Igbo ancestors that descended from the sky. Just as Dioka was the head of the second set of ancestors, the Awka, Idu was the leader of the people of Umudiala. When they descended in accordance with what Egyptian Book of the Dead referred to as the third generation, they occupied various parts of Umudiala teritoy. As I have noted in previous reviews, Umudiala land of old stretched from Nod(o) through Ikom, Biafra, Okigwe and Orlu. Idu lived at the present day Ikom. Before this days, those area were all called Benben.  Umudiala w
