Sen. Thune: Democrat Push To Remove Filibuster Exposes Hypocrisy

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) said hypocrisy on the left is on full display as they push to cancel the filibuster. He slammed Democrats for opposing its elimination when Republicans were in control of Congress, but pushing for it now.

In a statement on Wednesday, the senator from South Dakota pointed out Democrat Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) previously said killing the filibuster would be a mistake.

Schumer is now calling to eliminate the filibuster to jam through the so-called voting rights bill by a simple majority. Republican senators have said the Democrat-backed H.R.1 bill would federalize U.S. elections and enable universal mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting and other practices.

Thune said Democrats want to change the rules to get their way. He warned rewriting the rules of the Senate would have dire consequences.

Thune suggested Democrats should end the political games and get back to working with Republicans on issues that are relevant to Americans.

As many of her House Democratic colleagues decided to back the impeachment of President Donald Trump, Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Tuesday said she doesn't support the move because it would be "terribly divisive" for an "already very divided" United States. "Look, my position remains the same.                   INTRODUCTION In the history of syntax, prepositions alongside other parts of speech are considered as one of the esteemed contributions of the sophists (the itinerant teachers) to the development of the human language. Etymologically, the term “preposition” belonged to the group of word class Aristotle, the founder, referred to as “syndesmoi”. Others in this group are conjunction , article and pronoun . They were thus grouped by Aristotle because they were found to be performing related functions that are summed up in binding terms and exposing the gaps amidst sentences when they are not included. As a plural term, “syndesmoi” is a collective noun that stands for the group while, conjunction , the part of speech that binds together the discourse and finds gaps in its interpretation was called “syndesmos” (see Robins, 1968).
