Former Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Tuesday, told the Senate that his seven-year-old grandson asked him for an explanation why he is called ‘liar Mohammed’ on social media. Mr Mohammed, who is a minister-nominee for a second term, during screening at the Senate, said he didn’t take the name seriously because it is what is used to describe him on social media. He called on the Senate to ignore the name ‘Liar Mohammed’, stressing that the name on his Curriculum Vitae is his correct name. “Mr President, there is only one small issue, I want to draw your attention to my name in my CV, it’s about my name as it appears on my CV, it’s my correct name, which is Lai Mohammed. “Please don’t believe what they say on social media, they call me all sorts of names there. UK reclaims place as world's second largest arms exporter

British defence exports rose to a record £14bn in 2018, with sales to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and other countries in the Middle East accounting for nearly 80% of that figure,  official figures reveal . Campaigners said the statistics, released on Tuesday, showed that Britain was “arming and supporting repressive regimes”, while the Department for International Trade (DIT) said they demonstrated that the UK had returned to its position as the world’s second largest arms exporter after the US. Defence orders rose by £5bn to £14bn, making it the biggest year since records began in 1983. That increase was helped by a £5bn order for Typhoon fighters made by  BAE Systems , plus Paveway missiles from Raytheon that are partly made in the UK. Nigeria's police chief on Tuesday ordered a clampdown on a pro-Iranian Shiite group after it was banned by the government following a spate of bloody protests. "Any person engaged or associating, in any manner that could advance the activities of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), shall be treated as a terrorist, enemy of the state, and a subversive element and shall be brought to justice," Mohammed Adamu told senior officers. Tarfa was testifying as Buhari’s first defence witness in the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to challenge the outcome of the February 23, 2019 presidential election.
