On Saturday, after the votes closed at 7:00 p.m., Trump was declared winner with all 29 winner-take-all state delegates. By the time 65% of the votes were casted, Trump had a nearly 20-point lead.  “This was a little sooner than we anticipated. And even a bigger win than we anticipated,” Trump announced on stage at the state fairgrounds in Columbia, South Carolina, after the win. “I have never seen the Republican Party as United as it is right now.” In addition, Trump did not mention Hal

Rothman to 'Post': Israel has veto power over Palestinian state, it's a matter of life and death

Image
Responding to “ Israel has no veto power over Palestinian statehood, PA tells ICJ ,” Palestinian Arab spokespersons excel in generating rhetoric that always sounds plausible and always presents them as the most deserving of persons, as opposed to Jews who, it seems, barely deserve their own lives.  But this rhetoric is non-factual. In this case, for example, of course, Israel must have, and does have, “veto power” over Palestinian statehood. That’s because preventing that calamity is a matter of life and death for Israel. That’s also because the state the Palestinian spokespersons are gunning for is smack in the middle of the land-starved Jewish people’s tiny, zero-strategic-depth homeland – which is no accident. Let’s understand Irrevocable international commitments have been made to the ancient Jewish people for the western Land of Israel – even in the United Nations’ own Charter (Article 80), which obligates everybody. So Israel does have “veto power” over establishing a Palestinian

Trump argues presidential immunity in push for dismissal of classified documents case

Image
Lawyers for  Donald Trump  have asked a federal judge to throw out the indictment charging him with retaining classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago club on grounds of presidential immunity, claiming they were his to keep because he designated them personal records while he was president. The decision to designate the documents as personal records under the Presidential Records Act meant it was an official act of his presidency for which he could not face prosecution, his lawyers wrote in the 22-page filing. “President Trump’s decision to designate records as personal and cause them to be removed from the White House plainly constitutes an official act within the ‘outer perimeter’ of the president’s official duties,”  the filing said . Trump’s request to toss the charges amounted to an extraordinary interpretation of presidential power that would allow presidents to use national security secrets as they liked when they left office, legal experts suggested. Classified information is mat

REUTERS/Mike Segar/ WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Apple (AAPL.O) is rolling out an upgrade to its iMessage texting platform to defend against future encryption-breaking technologies. The new protocol, known as PQ3, is another sign that U.S. tech firms are bracing for a potential future breakthrough in quantum computing that could make current methods of protecting users’ communications obsolete. “More than simply replacing an existing algorithm with a new one, we rebuilt the iMessage cryptographic protocol from the ground up,” an Apple blog post published on Wednesday reads. “It will fully replace the existing protocol within all supported conversations this year.” The Cupertino, California-based iPhone maker says its encryption algorithms are state-of-the-art and that it has found no evidence so far of a successful attack on them. Still, government

Kyiv reportedly wants to “keep its military intact” as it approaches the end of its two-year conflict with Russia. “Foreigners and stateless persons” can join the Ukrainian national guard as of Wednesday, the Ukrainian leader said in a statement. Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, foreign fighters have been a part of the country’s armed forces, but they have typically volunteered as members of the International Legion. “Anyone who wants to join the defense of Ukraine, Europe, and the world can come and fight side by side with the Ukrainians,” Ze

Putin: ‘I Was Absolutely Right’ About Biden

(Photo by BRENDAN SMIALOWSKI/AFP via Getty Images) Russian President Vladimir Putin says he was “absolutely right” to prefer Joe Biden for president over Donald Trump after Biden called him an SOB at a California fundraising event. While speaking with the Russian press on Thursday, Putin appeared to poke fun at Biden’s comments saying he is the better presidential candidate for his interests. The Kremlin responded more strongly, saying Biden’s comments are unbecoming of a world leader and are “debasing” to the United States. Putin said his endorsement of Biden was made for Russians rather than for an international audience. “We are ready to work with any president. But I believe that for us, Biden is a more preferable president for Russia, and judging by what he has just said, I am absolutely right,” Putin told state television,
