Ondo government to open vehicle assembly plant in June

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Chief Alex Ajipe, Manager of the industrial hub, made the disclosure on Saturday while speaking with some online journalists in Akure, Ondo.  Ajipe said that the project was part of the Bi-City agreement signed between the state government and the Mayor of Linyi in China, in 2017. “In November 2019, we got a licence for automobile assembly plant. We called it Win-Tech. “From the message we got from our agent in China, the first consignment will arrive in Lagos port by March 1. So with the clearing and every other thing, at the end of March, we should have consignment here in Ondo State.

uventus v Inter Milan, four other Serie A matches postponed over Coronavirus

Five Serie A matches have been postponed this weekend because of coronavirus, including Juventus’ game at home to Inter Milan. Matches at Udinese, AC Milan, Parma and Sassuolo have also fallen victim to the outbreak of the virus in Italy.  The games were initially going to be played behind closed doors, but Serie A took the decision on Saturday morning to call them off. All five fixtures have been rescheduled for Wednesday, 13 May.

Nigeria needs a new constitution, says Obasanjo

A former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said Nigeria needs a new constitution in order to move forward as country. He spoke at the first memorial lecture of Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), in Lagos.  The former President also said Nigeria must address the agitation for restructuring for the country to move forward. Obasanjo stressed that restructuring would solve the nationwide agitation by ethnic nationalities.  He said: “Nigeria therefore needs a new constitution which will contain the aspirations, fears and realities of the present state of Nigeria.” According to him, the spate of insecurity in the country has fuelled the agitation for regional security network. Five jailed in Portugal over football match-fixing

Portuguese authorities on Friday jailed five people involved in fixing second-division football matches as part of an illegal betting ring supplied by funds from Malaysia. Second-tier club Leixoes were also deemed guilty of “active corruption” and excluded from competition for two years, according to the ruling from the Central Criminal Court in Lisbon. A businessman, a member of Porto’s main supporter’s group and a former player were handed sentences ranging from five-and-a-half years to six years and nine months for arranging to fix several matches during the 2015-16 season.Two other intermediaries also received custodial sentences of more than five years, the threshold at which they cannot be suspended under Portuguese law. At the end of a trial which started in February 2018, 19 other defendants were handed suspended sentences, including several footballers accused of throwing games.

Coronavirus: 28 contacts quarantined, firm shut down in Ogun

Following the incident of Coronavirus recorded in Ogun State, the state government says 28 people who had contact with the Italian victim of the disease have been identified and quarantined. The government also said the firm where the victim visited in Ewekoro has been shut down.  The state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, disclosed this, on Friday, while addressing newsmen on the update of the Coronavirus incident in the state,  The PUNCH  reports. The governor said efforts were on to identify more contacts to curb the spread of the disease. Abiodun said, “The particular company in question has been practically shut down and they have set up two isolation centres within the premises. “They have identified all those that have been in contact with this index, totalling about 28. BREAKING: 13 killed in multiple accidents along Bauchi-Jos Road

Not fewer than 13 people have been killed in multiple accidents that occurred in Bauchi State on Thursday night and in the early hours of Friday. The PUNCH  gathered that the accidents occurred in Tashan Maiturare and Takandan Giwa all along the busy Bauchi-Jos Federal Highway in Toro Local Government Area of the state. In the first accident, which occurred at 9 pm on Thursday, no fewer than 11 victims died on the spot with others injured. The second accident occurred in the early hours of Friday close to Takandan Giwa village when a car skidded off the road into the bush, leaving two people dead while others were injured. When contacted, the Head of Operations of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi State Sector Command, Ibrahim Abubakar, confirmed the accidents but said it was still gathering details.

A shameless grandmother has been exposed after getting pregnant for her 24-year-old grandson he has been having an incestuous relationship with. A 24-year old man has become the talk of the village after he allegedly impregnated his 66-year-old grandmother. According to a report by metro, the man identified as Normore Mudavanhu got Dube, his maternal grandmother, pregnant. The chief further added he is not surprised by the incident as he revealed some people having been engaging in incestous acts in secret. “A number of people are having a tendency of engaging in incestuous relationships. I have dealt with a lot of such cases and I think it’s high time I give tough penalties,” said Chief Njelele. A family meeting was called and the two were told to drop their illegitimate relationship or they risked being permanently cut off from the family.
