Police said late Saturday that he was being held “on suspicion of performing an indecent act against a minor.”  Video from the incident shows Joughin gripping a fence while pressing his body against a child, apparently to prevent the child from passing through. Joughin had been volunteering in the village in what was described as an effort to protect Palestinians from settler attacks.

   Iran’s Foreign Ministry said all countries were obliged to refrain from implementing US sanctions against Tehran, adding that participation in them amounted to complicity in imposing one state’s unlawful will on independent states.   Iran has executed over 500 people so far this year after a new surge in hangings in recent days, despite President Trump urging the Islamic Republic regime to halt executions, a rights group said Thursday. At least 511 people have been executed so far in 2026, according to Norway-based NGO Iran Human Rights, including at least 29 people in connection with anti-government protests in January. At least 16 women are among those executed and at least 13 "political prisoners" affiliated with banned opposition groups, it said.   Lebanon's ministry of health said a woman was killed and six other people wounded, including a girl, a woman and two elderly people, in Israeli airstrikes Thursday in or around the southern town of Arab Salim. The Israel Defense Forces had announced airstrikes in southern Lebanon earlier, saying they targeted "Hezbollah infrastructure in the Nabatieh area" including purported weapons storage facilities belonging to the Iran-backed group that the IDF said had been "established in order to harm Israeli civilians" and soldiers. NASA President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday to change the name of Lake Ontario to "Lake America." President Trump said his name change for one of the five Great Lakes is "effective immediately." The lake is bordered by Canada's Ontario Province to the north and west, and New York state to the south and east. Canada's most populous city, Toronto, is on the lake's Canadian shore. Trump's renaming action comes amid renewed bad blood between the U.S. and Canada over trade matters . The president took aim at Canada Thursday, saying their officials have treated the U.S. "very badly. Canadian officials earlier took the stance that they would ignore any action by Trump to rename the lake. The president took a similar action with the Gulf of Mexico. Early in 2025, the Board of Geographic Names formally changed the body of water's name to Gulf of America.

  Human rights lawyer and political activist Dele Farotimi has made a striking statement about detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu. Farotimi reportedly said Kanu was 110% correct in his assessment of the Nigerian state, adding that Nigeria has repeatedly proven Kanu right. That is a very strong position to take. But what exactly does Farotimi mean when he says Kanu was right at every point? Does he mean Kanu’s criticisms of Nigeria’s political system, governance and treatment of the South-East?  Or does he believe Kanu was also right on the more controversial issues surrounding his agitation? And perhaps the question is this; Can someone agree with Kanu’s criticisms of Nigeria without necessarily agreeing with everything associated with his agitation? Farotimi has made his position clear.
