US Navy helps ship average of 8 million barrels of oil per day in past week, Energy Secretary says

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that the seven-day average of oil leaving the Strait of Hormuz was over 8 million barrels a day, with the US military aiding in shipping 15 million barrels of oil and products out of the Strait on Tuesday in a post on X/Twitter on Friday.

That's down from more than 20 million per day before the war, or about one of every five barrels consumed worldwide.

"Make no mistake, thanks to the US Navy, oil is flowing through the Strait of Hormuz," he wrote.
