Ten animals were killed when a fire broke out Thursday at the African Safari Wildlife Park in northern Ohio, Danbury Township police said. Firefighters were called to the Port Clinton park at 6:15 p.m. after reports of a fire at a barn housing animals, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office and park officials said. Firefighters were called to a blaze at a barn housing animals at the African Safari Wildlife Park on Thursday. Three giraffes, three  red river hogs , three  bongos  and a  springbok  had been inside the barn before the fire, Officer Carolyn DeMore with the Danbury Township Police told reporters. A bongo is a large forest antelope and the springbok is a medium-sized, gazelle-like antelope. Holly Hunt, the co-owner of park, told CNN there are 300 other animals in the park and all have been accounted for. Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State says his administration is set to recruit no fewer than 2,000 qualified Teachers for Primary and Secondary Schools. Fintiri disclosed this on Friday, when he addressed supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, in Shelleng and Guyuk Local Government Areas, during a campaign rally for the local government councils elections. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission has slated Dec. 7, for the council poll. The Federal Government, yesterday, said it is committed to conducting its activities based on existing International Mining Regulation, to achieve growth and development in the mineral sector. The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, stated this when he received the Executive Director of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), Mark Robinson, in Abuja. Represented by the Minister of State, Uchechukwu Ogah, he said the Ministry is determined to ensure that registered mining firms operate within the confines of the rules and regulation. According to him, structure of the Nigeria Extractive Transparency Initiative (NEITI), is meant to achieve total transparency as well increase the revenue generation in the mineral sector. American rock climber Brad Gobright has died after a fall in northern Mexico. The incident happened Wednesday at Sendero Luminoso in El Potrero Chico, the nation's civil protection agency said. Gobright, 31, of Orange County, California, was with a climbing partner when he fell nearly 985 feet. Rescuers retrieved his body Thursday and treated his climbing partner, Aidan Jacobson, for injuries to his ankle and other parts of his body. A fellow climber and a friend of the partner said Jacobson told him their rope got stuck, causing them to both fall 20-30 feet to the ledge below. Jacobson crashed into a bush, which broke his fall and stopped him from tumbling farther. "It pretty much saved his life," the friend, Ryan Borys, said. Cholera outbreak: Ogun death toll now five

The death toll as a result of a cholera outbreak in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, has risen to five and it includes a four-month-old baby and 33-year-old pregnant woman. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health in Ogun State, Dr Ayinde Akinsanya disclosed this on Friday, during a press briefing in Abeokuta. Akinsanya said so far, the number of the reported cases has risen to 12 and five persons have died. It was reported that four persons in Abule-Otun in the Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state have lost their lives to the outbreak.
