On Saturday, the Associated Press reported people living in tents in a local park were sent back to their home provinces due to limited government budget. However, some of the people said they were nervous to return home as their homes were destroyed from Taliban fighting. California on Saturday became the first state to say large department stores must display products like toys and toothbrushes in gender-neutral ways, a win for LGBT advocates who say the pink and blue hues of traditional marketing methods pressure children to conform to gender stereotypes. The new law, signed by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, does not outlaw traditional boys and girls sections at department stores. Instead, it says large stores must also have a gender neutral section to display “a reasonable selection" of items "regardless of whether they have been traditionally marketed for either girls or for boys.” That does not include clothes. The law only applies to toys and “childcare items,” which include hygiene and teething products. And it only applies to stores with at least 500 employees, meaning small businesses are exempt. A Georgia police officer was gunned down outside a police station during his first shift with the department early Saturday, authorities said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Officer Dylan Harrison, 26, was fatally shot outside the Alamo Police Department by Damien Anthony Ferguson. Ferguson, 43, remained on the loose Saturday night, despite the launch of a large manhunt. Officials did not immediately say what prompted the shooting in Wheeler County, about 90 miles southeast of Macon. "Officer Harrison was a part-time Alamo police officer working his first shift with the department last night," GBI spokesperson Natalie Ammons said during a news conference, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She said Harrison was also a full-time Oconee Drug Task Force agent in nearby Dodge County.
