Spain registers overnight coronavirus death toll of 849, highest so far

Spain registered 849 fatalities related to coronavirus overnight - the highest number in 24 hours since the epidemic started, although the increase in percentage terms was slightly lower than in the previous days, the health ministry said on Tuesday. The death toll rose to 8,189 on Tuesday from 7,340 on Monday, while the number of cases rose to 94,417 on Tuesday from 85,195 on Monday.

Swiss coronavirus death toll rises to 373, positive tests hit 16,176

The Swiss death toll from the coronavirus epidemic has risen to 373, the country's public health agency said on Tuesday, from 295 people on Monday. Coronavirus deaths in Netherlands rise by 175 to 1,039 -authorities

AMSTERDAM - The number of deaths in the Netherlands resulting from the coronavirus epidemic has risen by 175 to 1,039, health authorities said on Tuesday. The number of confirmed infections increased by 845 to 12,595, the Netherlands' National Institute for Health (RIVM) said. Four herdsmen arraigned for open grazing in Benue

The  Chief Magistrate Court sitting in  Makurdi, on Tuesday, granted bail to four herdsmen who were arraigned for violating the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of Benue State. The Chief Magistrate, Isaac Ajim who granted the accused bail on half a million naira each with one surety in like sum adjourned the case to April 7 for further mention. The Police Prosecuting Officer, ASP Hyacinth Gbakor, had told the courthouse that three of the herdsmen; Adamu Ibrahim, Abubakar Usman and Salah Landi were arrested on March 27, 2020, by men of  Benue State Livestock with their cows grazing in Ogobia Village in Otukpo Local Government Area the  State. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs,  Sadiya Farouq , has said that the school feeding programme will be implemented despite the closure of schools nationwide. Schools across Nigeria have been closed for about one week to check the spread of COVID-19. She said talks with state governors to ensure the continuation of the programme as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari has commenced. She said this while responding to questions at the joint national briefing of the Presidential Task Force in Abuja on Monday. Mr Buhari had, on Sunday, directed the ministry to develop a strategy on how to sustain the school feeding programme. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has tested positive for coronavirus. He made this known via his  Twitter  handle on Monday. “I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is positive. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate,” he said.
