REUTERS/Zoubeir Souiss France urged Tunisia on Wednesday to name a new prime minister and cabinet to replace the government removed by President Kais Saied when he froze parliament and assumed governing authority in a move decried as a coup by his opponents. A decade after ending autocratic rule through a popular uprising, Tunisia faces the sternest test yet to its democratic system and Western countries that have applauded its political transition have expressed concern. Saied, who says his actions are constitutional but has yet to set out his next steps, has been urged by the United States to stick to democratic principles. He met security chiefs on Wednesday, the presidency said. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told his Tunisian counterpart Othman Jerandi that it was paramount that Tunisia quickly names a new prime minister and a cabinet, the French Foreign Ministry said. Backed by the army, Saied’s actions

On Tuesday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) gathered outside the Department of Justice in D.C. to demand a status report on individuals arrested following the January 6 capitol breach. According to the representatives, their interest in the issue comes as reports emerge revealing mistreatment of non-violent protestors in jail and silence regarding the issue from the Justice Department. Congressman Gohmert, an experienced defense attorney, stated he was there simply to defend “due process.” “I’m here just to try to see that due process is done and I’m

On Tuesday, he released  a series of statements regarding mainstream media’s crime surge cover up, an attack on a former senator and recent claims by Ohio candidates who say they have his support. Trump began his comments by ripping into the mainstream media for covering up the nation’s violent crime surge. The 45th president said taxpayers deserve their police back and should be able to feel safe again. This comes as violence eats away at big cities with at least 70 residents shot and 12 murdered in Democrat-led Chicago over the weekend. “What can Chicago Police officers do? They can continue to be brave and courageous,” stated Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown. “My question to you is, ask what the courts can do different?” However

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has urged Nigerians residing in London to “smoke” President Muhammadu Buhari out. Omokri urged the 200,000 Nigerians in London to smoke Buhari out because he has not been seen. He made the appeal in a tweet demanding Buhari’s whereabouts in London. Omokri stressed that the Abuja House in London was under close watch. Buhari had on Monday departed Nigeria for London. The Presidency had said the president is expected to participate in an education summit and also visit his doctors, while in London. On Tuesday, there were pictorial evidence that Buhari arrived at the Stansted International Airport, London at about 11:20pm (local time). However, Omokri in a tweet, wrote: “Nigerians in London, “I am counting on you to help me smoke the tyrant. We are up to 200,000 in this city. “Does it mean none of us can fish the man out from whatever hole he is hiding? We have 24/7 intel on Abuja House. He is not there. Where is Buhari?”

During a media telebriefing on Tuesday, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky announced new recommendations for fully vaccinated people in high transmission areas to wear face masks indoors. This marked an about face from just two months ago in May, when they said fully vaccinated individuals could forgo mask wearing in almost all settings. During the meeting, Walensky cited the Delta variant sweeping through areas with low vaccination rates as the reason for this change. “Information on the Delta variant from several states and other countries indicates that in rare occasions, some vaccinated people infected with the Delta variant after vaccination may be contagious and spread the virus to others,” she stated. “This new science is worrisom

Addressing journalists at the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday where Nnamdi Kanu was expected to appear for the continuation of his trial, the former Governor said, “He is my son, and whatever is the situation, he is my son. They did not bring him to court.” Ezeife was one of the high-profile political figures from the South East appointed by Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership to represent the organisation at the court on Monday to witness Kanu’s trial.
