The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, said no party member can force the PDP’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign. This is coming hours after the crisis rocking the PDP deepened on Wednesday as Governor Nyesom Wike’s team pulled out of Atiku’s campaign council. The members announced their decision to pull out of the council following a meeting early on Wednesday morning in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. They insisted that the PDP National Chairman  must resign for them to rescind their decision . Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola The Senate has confirmed justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria. Ariwoola was confirmed at about 12:55 after about an hour of drilling and questioning by the senate. This motion for the screening was moved by the Senate Leader, Senator Ibrahim Gobir, at the plenary at 11:35 am. The Senate President,  Ahmad Lawan, had called for the screening exercise to be moved forward from where it was listed on the order paper. Gobir moved that the Senate resolve into the Committee of the Whole to conduct the screening as well as suspend its relevant rules to admit the acting CJN Ariwoola and his entourage into the chambers. The IPOB leader has been detained in the DSS custody for about 14 months after he was rearrested in Kenya and returned to Nigeria in June 2021. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has raised an alarm over his worsening health, saying he has been diagnosed with gastrointestinal disorder following persistent heartburn. Ejiofor made this known on Monday, saying that despite the order by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja that Kanu should be given serious medical attention, the Department of State Services (DSS) has refused to obey the order.
