Exposition I: why Briton is Afraid of the Igbo - Onyeji Nnaji

British policy was mainly shaped by its oil interests, declassified government documents from the time show. “Our direct interests are trade and investment, including an important stake by Shell/BP in the eastern region,” the Foreign Office noted a few days before the outbreak of the war in 1967.  Investments by Shell/BP—then a joint company in Nigeria which was partly owned by the British government—amounted to around £200-million at the time. Abaribe Warns Nigeria over Attempts of Illuminating Ndigboo

“Igbo people want nothing more than to Live,  prosper, and enjoy their lives in peace.  Islam and Sharia law are not our path.  Our ancestors rejected it, and we reject it totally today,  tomorrow, and forever.” “Trying to force Sharia on us is like asking for another civil war.  Nigeria should think very carefully before pushing people beyond their limits.” “Let it be clear: the Igbo nation will never bow to any form of religious imposition. We stand for freedom, justice, and peaceful coexistence  But we will resist anything that threatens our identity.” This is a man who represents what many see as the core values of Igbo culture. He embraces it, carries it with pride, and speaks with conviction.  His words are not empty, they're firm and deliberate. The Igbo people are often known for their calm and enterprising nature. But history has shown that when pushed too far to know, resilience can quickly turn into resistance

(Photos via: Department of Justice) The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against the state of New Jersey to challenge legislative measures that provide illegal aliens with access to in-state tuition and financial assistance. Specifically, the federal government is seeking a court order to block the enforcement of two key pieces of legislation — a 2013 law signed by former Governor Chris Christie (D-N.J.) that established in-state tuition eligibility for these undocumented students, and a subsequent 2018 law signed by former Governor Phil Murphy (D-N.J.) that expanded their access to state-funded financial aid programs. The DOJ argues that these state-level policies conflict with federal statutes regarding the benefits afforded to non-citizens, thereby necessitating judicial intervention to halt their implementation. “This is a simple matter of federal law: In...

Pakistani officials, who have been mediating during the ceasefire, said they had received the proposal and sent it to the U.S.,  CNBC  reported. President Trump, who had not been satisfied with earlier proposals from Tehran, signaled his plans to continue to block imports and exports out of Iran’s ports to pressure the regime to end its nuclear enrichment program — one of the United States’ top objectives of Operation Epic Fury. Israel to purchase 100 F-35s, 50 new F-15s, doubling fleet sizes

Rendering of an F-15IA; illustrative, May 2, 2026. (photo credit: BOEING) Israel announced on Sunday a blockbuster decision to double the size of its  F-35  fleet from 50 to 100 and its new F-15IA fleet from 25 to 50. The decision reflects a radical post-October 7 world: Israel will increase defense spending over the next 10 years by NIS 350 billion, in addition to annual defense spending that has risen from under NIS 100 billion to nearly NIS 150 billion. If before October 7 and even mid-war there was a hot debate whether to spend Israel's limited  military funds  on increasing its F-35 fleet or new F-15IA fleet, after two Iran wars over the last year in which the IDF heavily using both existing F-35s and older F-15s, which need to be replaced with the new F-15IAs, the government decided to massively increase the budget in order to purchase both.
