Ilhan Omar to Face Extraditions

Image
Several news outlets have falsely reported that Somaliland’s government called for the extradition of  Ilhan Omar , basing their stories on a post from an X account that does not represent the state despite its claims to the contrary. Fox News, the New York Post, Sinclair Broadcast Group’s the National News Desk and the Independent ran stories on the US representative. The reports centred on a post by @RepOfSomaliland in reaction to claims by  JD Vance  that Omar had committed immigration fraud, which echoed prior allegations against the Somali-born Minnesota Democrat that she has vehemently denied. “Deportation?” the post read. “Please you’re just sending the princess back to her kingdom. Extradition? Say the word …” The account is not an official government channel, and Somaliland’s own foreign ministry had said so publicly in December. It said: “Ministry has begun identifying social media accounts that are NOT official Government of  Somaliland  channels,” ad...

Image
US Congressman Riley Moore has issued a strong warning to President Bola Tinubu, stating that failure to protect Christians in Nigeria will have “significant consequences” for US-Nigeria relations. In a post on X on Monday, Moore condemned the Palm Sunday attack in Jos where at least 10 Christians were reportedly killed. He wrote: “This Palm Sunday, reports from Nigeria indicate that at least 10 Christians were martyred in the city of Jos. Radical Islamic terrorists opened fire on the Christians before hacking them to pieces with machetes… Abuja knows this pattern and they must massively ramp up security for the Tridduum and Easter. If they don’t take this threat seriously and mobilize to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ, blood of these martyrs will be on their hands, and there will be significant consequences for Nigeria’s relationship with the United States.” Moore’s post included a retweet of a video by American activist Eyal Yakoby (also known as Alex Barbir), who was at t...
