Iran’s president offers resignation, citing total takeover by IRGC commanders

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has submitted an official letter of resignation to the Office of the Supreme Leader, a source familiar with the matter told Iran International. In the letter sent on Sunday, Pezeshkian stressed that the president and the government have effectively been excluded from major and vital decision-making processes in the country, and that the vacuum created by this situation has enabled hardline factions within the IRGC to take control of affairs, the source said. Pezeshkian added that under such circumstances he is unable to run the government and carry out his legal responsibilities, and for that reason has requested to step down immediately. It is not yet clear whether Mojtaba Khamenei will accept the president's resignation, but the contents of the letter point to a deep and unprecedented rift at the highest levels of power. Israel, Lebanon agree to ceasefire on condition of end to Hezbollah fire, US State Department says

(photo credit: AMICHAI STEIN) At the end of another round of talks that concluded on Wednesday between Israeli and Lebanese representatives in Washington, the US State Department said in a joint statement that, as a result of the US led negotiations, “Israel and Lebanon agreed on the implementation of a ceasefire, conditional on a complete halt to Hezbollah fire and the evacuation of all Hezbollah operatives from the area south of the Litani.” It was further stated that “under US guidance, the two sides agreed to move quickly toward establishing pilot zones in which the Lebanese army will have exclusive control over the area, with no presence of any non-state actor, these steps will enable progress toward a comprehensive agreement for peace and security.”

The measure passed 215-208, with four Republicans voting alongside Democrats.

"It might not happen,"  Trump  told reporters at the White House, before adding, "it could happen over the weekend." He described Iran as "volatile," stating that the US military was more than capable of wiping the country out within a few weeks.

Human bones discovered in Kibbutz Kfar Aza neighborhood devastated in October 7 massacre

The area was one of the sites of intense fighting on October 7, 2023, when  Hamas Nukhba  terrorists infiltrated the  kibbutz , murdered and abducted residents, looted homes, and set houses on fire. The report noted that Nirel Zini, who was murdered during the attack, was decapitated by terrorists, and his head has not been found to this day.

Iran claims failed US missile struck Kuwait airport after saying Gulf bore 'clear responsibility'

(photo credit: Kuwait News Agency/Handout via REUTERS) Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed that a failed US  Patriot interceptor  missile hit a Kuwaiti airport on Tuesday, and denied reports that Tehran fired at the airport, according to regime-linked media. This comes after  Kuwait banished  two Iranian diplomats and declared them persona non grata, giving them 24 hours to leave the country.  Iran's charge d'affairs was summoned after the strikes, and Kuwait's Foreign Ministry reduced the number of Iranian diplomats in the country.
