Florida Congressman Carlos Gimenez (R) has called out Joe Biden for insulting the Latino community when the Democrat used the term “Latinx.”

In an interview on Saturday, GOP Rep. Gimenez scolded Biden, saying “keep your wokeness out of our language.” This comes as Biden claimed Latinx Americans are afraid of getting vaccinated due to a fear of deportation.

Biden’s comments gained widespread criticism with many Twitter users labeling him a racist. Additionally, his statement gained attention because it implied that all Latinos were in the U.S. illegally.

“Look I’m Hispanic, I’m a legal immigrant,” said Gimenez. “I’m a citizen of the United States. I’m a U.S. Congressman. And so, no, we are just like everybody else. We came here looking for a better life, my father, my mother brought me here looking for a better life, escaping socialism and communism in Cuba.”

Meanwhile, Gimenez called Biden’s remarks an insult to their culture by trying to restructure an entire language to fit his politics.
