(photo credit: IDF SPOKESPERSON'S UNIT) The IDF, on Wednesday, undertook its first preemptive strike against a Hamas official since the late July deal between US President Donald Trump and Hamas regarding partial disarmament for partial IDF Gaza withdrawals. Shortly after that deal, the US essentially instructed Israel to stop attacking Gaza, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu complied. Since then, there have been a limited number of instances where the IDF shot and killed Hamas fighters near the border who presented what they called an immediate threat, but there have essentially been no assassinations of Hamas officials who did not pose an imminent threat.

"Most of the old-issue banknotes have already been replaced with new ones some time ago. If any of you still possess those old banknotes, you face a serious financial risk. In the very near future, these banknotes will be worth nothing, and you will be left with nothing," IDF Arabic Spokesperson Lt.-Col. Ella Waweya wrote on X/Twitter.

Defense officials confirmed on Sunday that opportunities to strike Hamas's military wing operatives had been missed over the past week because of government policy. However, senior political officials told Walla on Monday that "This is a complete lie. The IDF did not bring a single targeted killing for approval over the past week."

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei on Monday issued decrees appointing six military and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officials to leadership positions after the preceding holders were killed in Israeli-US strikes during operations Roaring Lion and Epic Fury. Ali Abdollahi was appointed as chief of staff of Iran's Armed Forces, with Kioumars Heydari named as his deputy. Additionally, Ahmad Vahidi was named as head of the IRGC, with Mostafa Izadi named as his deputy.

One sailor was killed in the strike last month, which Ukraine later said had been carried out by mistake. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei disputed Kyiv's explanation on Monday, saying Tehran had not been persuaded that the vessel was unintentionally targeted.

No date or location was specified in the footage.  Media outlets have noted that the clip bears a similarity to another video released earlier in the year.

We are just watching Iran with its huge inflation and the fact they have no money," he stated. Trump emphasized that the US blockade on Iranian ports along the Strait of Hormuz has contributed to Iran being “in very bad shape.” One US official told Axios that during active warfare, Tehran can temporarily avoid dealing with the economic consequences of the fighting, but as strikes have paused, it is forced to confront the reality of its economic situation, with no solution easily available.
