JD Vance casts ballot in Ohio primaries

Vice President JD Vance made a stop in the Buckeye State Tuesday morning to cast his ballot in Ohio’s primary elections.
Vance brought his son, Vivek, to vote in an election that will decide the nominations for the upcoming November midterm elections this year. The Ohioan also handed out endorsements to the candidates who earned his vote.
“Great to be in Cincinnati this morning to vote for Vivek Ramaswamy for Governor, Jay Edwards for State Treasurer and Eric Conroy for Congress (OH-1). I hope you’ll do the same, Ohio!” the vice president posted to X on Tuesday.
The primaries include a special election for the U.S. Senate to decide who will be filling Vance’s seat, which he vacated to become vice president. U.S. Senator Jon Husted (R-Ohio), who was appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) to temporarily replace Vance, is running unopposed in the Republican primary.
The Democrat candidates in the primary for the Senate seat include former U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Ron Kincaid.
Asked by reporters about the November election as he left the ballot box, Vance voiced his approval of Husted.
“I think Jon’s going to do a great job,” Vance answered. “He’s a good guy, and he’s been good for the people of Ohio.”
At the polling location, Vance joked about having to conceal his ballot.
“I have to hide it from the reporters. I don’t want them to know who I voted for,” Vance quipped as he submitted his vote.
His son was also able to participate with a kid’s ballot.
“He voted for the Easter Bunny over the Tooth Fairy,” Vance said. “Which is a risky choice because he’s got a loose tooth.”
Later on Tuesday, the vice president will be speaking at an event in Des Moines, Iowa.
