Nigerian Police Forcefully Arrested a Lawful Citizen and Accused h of Producing Bombs

When Ahmed Gulak was killed on his way to the Owerri airport, the same police that hunted him down changed their course on their way back and drove to Mbaise where they shot 5 ill-fated youths and arrested others they could intimidate with their guns.

At first, police claimed that they intercepted the boys on the way. But, when the truth came out that they had killed innocent people, they changed the narrative. Garulously the police said they shot the boys so that northerners won't begin to kill people there in revenge.

One may ask, why should the innocent boys be killed to cover the crime committed by the police. A similar thing has just happened. The Nigerian police have forcefully arrested a gun-powder-peoducer in his residence claiming he was the IPOB bomb manufacturer.

With raised shoulders, Abattem, the police spokesperson claimed that they displayed intelligence to raid the house of the 50 years old Simeon Onigbo of Uba Umuaka in Njaba. The proof  police couldn't give was evividence of already made grenade recovered from the man's house or the ones yet to be completed.

Anyone who had lived in different localities in Nigeria knows fully well that the pathetic evidence shown by the police above has no connection with grenade. Igbo call it "Mkponala" or Egbe ala. It is used during burials and also used to welcome and fair a respected visitor well as he departs.

When will Nigeria police stop their stupidity and face the reality in front them? This man was arrested because the police lack investigative intelligence.

rikebattem, police spokesperson in Imo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

“Following credible intelligence received on 20/4/2022 at about 1700hours, revWhenaling the hideout of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB/Eastern Security Network (ESN), its militia wing, where they are manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices used in attacking Police Stations and Government facilities in the state,” the statement reads.

“The Police Operatives immediately mobilised to the hideout of the terror group located at Uba Umuaka in Njaba local government area of Imo State and raided the camp”.

The police spokesperson said the suspect — Simeon Onigbowho, 50-years-old — was arrested when officers raided the hideouts of ESN members.

According to Abattem, the suspect admitted being the manufacturer of most of the IEDs used in attacking police stations in Imo and neighbouring states.

He said weapons, including one IDE, 58 pieces of cannon steel pipe, two chisels, one hammer, half bag of potassium nitrate, 30 pounds weight of sulphur, 40 pounds weight of dry sand, 10 pounds weight of red sand, 30 pounds weight of gun powder, half bag of charcoal, 30 electronic motorcycle batteries and seven lengths of eight millimetres iron rods, were recovered from the suspect.

“The Command’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD) has taken over the recovered bomb for technical analysis and subsequently for possible detonation,” Abattem said.

He added that an investigation is ongoing to arrest other members named by the suspect
