Iraq keeps more than $100 billion in reserves in the United States, giving Washington substantial influence over Baghdad’s access to physical dollars. Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi said the understanding was reached during Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi’s visit to the United States and would help Iraq meet legitimate demand for foreign currency. “A new shipment will arrive in the coming days,” al-Aboudi said

One high-level Middle East government official involved in the talks told the WSJ that Iran had been close to compromising on its nuclear program earlier this year during negotiations with US Vice President JD Vance , but would need explicit assurance that it would not be attacked by Israel after making a deal with the US. Other officials said that Iran is confident it could withstand a long-term US blockade or renewed bombing campaign.

Russell) Eight US Marines were injured in an Iranian attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz on September 14, NBC reported Sunday evening, citing three US sources.  The Marines were not seriously injured by the Iranian cruise missile hit on the vessel, but they sustained smoke inhalation and showed symptoms of concussions, including headaches, according to the report.

The two will discuss bilateral ties and key regional and international developments, the agency added. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sought US military help this month against the Iran-backed Houthis , but Washington declined to launch strikes, though it agreed to supply intelligence and targeting support, sources said. Farhan's visit to the US comes after Yemen's Saudi-led coalition intercepted two ballistic missiles and two drones launched by the Houthis towards the kingdom, the coalition said.

Akraminia said Iran's armed forces were fully prepared for confrontation and warned that the US would suffer greater damage if it launched another attack on his country.
