Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, has revealed that Nigeria should not be seen as favourites to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations despite their thrilling 3-2 Round of 16 win over defending champions Cameroon in Alexandria.
Two quick second half goals from Man-of-The-matchOdion Ighalo and Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi saw the Eagles come back from 2-1 to knock out the Lions and progress to the quarter-finals, where they face 1996 champions South Africa.
“We were looking forward to playing the hosts but we knew it was going to be either one of them, it will be a tough game but we are capable of achieving a good result and we are ready to work hard to get what we want.
“I don’t think so (being favourites), until we get there, for me I think we have to approach every game as if it’s a final, so the next step is the South African game and after that we can think of the semi-final,” he said.
