Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos & Arsenal

For a while Tottenham were thought to be leading the race to sign Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos.
But that all changed on Tuesday, as AS broke the news that Arsenal were on the verge of signing the 22-year-old.
AS told their readers that Ceballos is just “one step away from Arsenal”.
While AS noted that Spurs and AC Milan have also tabled bids, it was explained that Ceballos is keen to join the Gunners.
Unai Emery’s interest in the Spain U21 international was reportedly key in convincing the midfielder to switch to the Emirates Stadium.
AS reported that Ceballos is set for a season-long loan at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s loan deal won’t include option to buy

The Times have posted a short, but important update on Wednesday. Readers are told:
Arsenal are close to signing Dani Ceballos, 22, a midfielder from Real Madrid, on a one-year loan.
The deal does not include an option to buy.
Did Arsenal simply forgo trying to secure such an option?
Or did Real Madrid refuse to agree to those terms?
Those questions remain unanswered, however it leaves Arsenal in danger of helping Ceballos push on in his career only to benefit Real Madrid in the long run.

Costs in Arsenal’s Dani Ceballos deal

If Arsenal do close a deal for Dani Ceballos, the loan will have costs attached.
As detailed in Marca, “as part of the deal, Arsenal would pay 100 percent of Ceballos’ wages, which is about three million euros a year.”
As has been well-documented this summer, Arsenal only have around 40 million pounds to spend on new recruits.
