At least three explosions were heard near Ukraine's western city of Lviv on Saturday, with the city's mayor reporting he believes the Russian military had carried out a strike on the site of an industrial facility being used for fuel storage.

Lviv is located in the western part of the country and is about 250 miles from where President Joe Biden is in Poland while meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Ukrainian officials, and refugees from the war, now at the end of its first month.

Biden is also scheduled to deliver a major address later Saturday from Poland, and has been briefed about the explosions, reports CNN

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said on Twitter that "habitable infrastructure was not injured " and advised residents to stay under shelter until air alarms quit sounding, reports CNN. He also warned residents in a followup tweet that "it's possible that shelling will be repeated."

Meanwhile, City Councilman Igor Zinkevych said in a post on Facebook that there were "three powerful explosions" and that "everyone should keep calm and stay indoors."

Another official, Maksym Kozytskyy, the head of the Lviv regional military administration, confirmed on his Facebook account that "three powerful explosions near Lviv from the Velyki Kryvchytsi side, now there is an air alarm, so keep calm and stay in shelter."

Kozytskyy he also said that two missiles hit targets in Lviv Saturday and that there were at least five people injured.

"Information about what was involved in a residential building or other infrastructure objects was not confirmed," Kozytskyy said, warning people to remain undercover and not to read or share misleading information 'in anonymous Telegram channels."

In another update, he posted that "three more powerful explosions happened. The air alarm is being held! Stay in the cover up, keep calm. Do not disseminate any information, photo or video to official messages."
