We were Biafra before Nigeria - Alex Otti

“Abia State is not part of Nigeria. We were Biafra before Nigeria—just the same way a Hausa man is Arewa before Nigeria. And let it be clear, Nnamdi Kanu is being held hostage in Sokoto, not imprisoned.”

Governor Alex Otti, in a powerful and unapologetic statement, voiced the historical and political identity of his people.

According to him:
“The world must understand that Abia State carries a Biafran identity that predates Nigeria itself. Our history was never erased—and it never will be.”

He further stressed that the detention of Nnamdi Kanu is not an act of justice but an act of force:

“What is happening in Sokoto is not imprisonment. It is a hostage situation meant to silence a people. But truth cannot be silenced.”

Otti concluded by warning that no amount of intimidation can erase the destiny of a people:

“Biafra is not a crime. Identity is not a crime. And no governor, no judge, and no government has the power to rewrite our history.
