Lebanese Amal Movement party rejects Israel-Lebanon framework
Lebanon's Amal Movement, a Shi'ite party headed by the parliament's Speaker, Nabih Berri, rejected the Israel-Lebanon framework reached last week, saying in a statement early Monday morning that the deal would not be ratified, according to a report by the independent news channel Iran International.
"This agreement will not be ratified and will not be implemented in its current form," the statement reportedly read, adding that the framework doesn’t guarantee the rights of Lebanon.
The Hezbollah-allied Amal Movement holds 15 out of 128 seats in Lebanon’s Parliament, and the Iran-aligned March 8 Alliance, of which both parties are members, has 51 seats in total.
