Breaking: Nnamdi Kanu to Lead his Defence in the Court
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to Lead His Own Defense, Lists 23 Witnesses Including Danjuma, Sanwo-Olu, Wike, Ikpeazu, and Umahi
In a surprising twist, detained IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has officially informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that he will personally lead his own defense in his ongoing terrorism trial.
According to reports, Kanu personally signed the motion and listed 23 witnesses, including some top political and military figures like:
👉 Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd.)
👉 Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd.)
👉 Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Hope Uzodinma
👉 FCT Minister Nyesom Wike
👉 Minister of Works, Dave Umahi
👉 Former Abia Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu
He is also requesting 90 days to present his defense and plans to take the witness stand himself — a move many describe as bold and historic.
Interestingly, the document reportedly did not carry the signatures of his lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), or special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor.
Sources suggest that the witnesses will testify on key political and security decisions made during the government’s response to IPOB activities in the Southeast.
Meanwhile, tension continues to rise as fresh protests demanding Kanu’s release erupted in Abuja this week, leading to multiple arrests.
