Erdogan Gift to NATO Members and the Message it Encased - Onyeji Nnaji
After NATO leaders gathered for Wednesday’s fractious summit in Ankara, their host, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, handed each an unusual parting gift: a vintage revolver, along with live ammunition indicating it was not just for show.
Erdogan wanted to showcase Turkey’s defence industry, which has become a key export and foreign policy tool.
It was set in a wooden display box featuring Turkey’s flag and the NATO logo as well as a placard inscribed “Gumusay, the first revolver-type handgun produced in our country” in Turkish and English.
The surprise shown by Belgium’s prime minister on landing back home from Wednesday’s NATO summit in Turkey to find that he had a handgun and ammunition in his luggage reveals the entire message unspoken.
The message even becomes worrisome when it is discovered that Turkey has been secretly involved in the terror sponsorship in Nigeria. Few months ago, some of the arms sent by turkey to Nigeria was recovered from Fulani Terrorists who attacked Igbo land.
The message Erdogan sent to the NATO member countries is far from showing his preparedness to sustain his position as the second largest provider of NATO defence force. Erdogan message is very clear here, when you give a gun as a gift, you send your signature into the security apparatus of your receiver.
The crux is; the world should be prepared for another strong Islamic terror project after Iran. He is even advancing for the US F45. What is a nation that has no war doing with the US F45? Israel will answer this question.
