President Trump says ceasefire with Iran is over, but questions loom about future of the conflict

The Iran War remains in a state of uncertainty after President Donald Trump announced this week that the ceasefire was 'over.'

So far, no new details have been provided about the status of negotiations. Trump spent Thursday at the White House after returning from a meeting of NATO leaders in Ankara early in the morning. He did not appear for any public events or post messages online.

"We've already won militarily. They have very little left, and they want to make a deal so badly. They called a little while ago. They want to make a deal so badly. I just don't know if they're worthy of making a deal. I don't know that they're going to honor the deal. That's the problem," Trump said Wednesday on his return flight.

The two sides were expected to resume talks to end the war following the funeral of Iran's late supreme leader, which concluded on Thursday.

This comes as tensions escalated earlier this week when Iran attacked three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, U.S. Central Command conducted two rounds of retaliatory strikes, hitting approximately 170 targets across Iran on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Videos released by CENTCOM showed the latest strikes, which followed Trump's statement that Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz signaled the end of the ceasefire.

The conflict has also influenced oil prices. The price of Brent crude oil, the international standard, dropped by about $2 from the previous day but remains several dollars higher than a week ago and well above pre-war levels.

Gas prices, which had been declining as talks with Iran progressed, started rising again this week amid the renewed tensions. Concerns remain that further escalation of the war could lead to soaring gas price
