"B0MB TERR0RISTS IN YOUR COUNTRY, NOT REVOLUTIONARIES IN BENIN," Casus Belli to Tinubu
Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the Benin Republic—following a request from the Beninese government to help suppress a coup attempt—has sparked widespread criticism. Reports indicate that the former Lagos State governor authorized military action against the coup plotters in the neighboring West African country.
According to Parallel Facts, explosions and sporadic gunshots were heard early Sunday morning at the Tignon Barracks, located roughly six kilometers from Cotonou Airport. Casus Belli, an investigator, revealed that soldiers allegedly involved in the attempted coup had barricaded themselves inside the facility.
In response, the Nigerian Air Force deployed fighter jets to push the coup plotters out of the national television station and a military camp. Nigerian ground forces were also sent in for operations reportedly approved by the Beninese Command Authority.
Tinubu’s decision to authorize an att@ck on another sovereign nation has drawn condemnation from various quarters. American political commentator and influencer Jackson Hinkle criticized the action, arguing that Tinubu should focus on combating terr0rists within Nigeria rather than targeting what he described as “revolutionaries” in Benin.
Earlier on Sunday, Parallel Facts reported that investigative journalist David Hundeyin disclosed that Nigerian Army formations at Ojo Barracks in Lagos were preparing for an unauthorized military incursion into the Benin Republic. Hundeyin warned on his X handle that such a move could inflame tensions in West Africa, a region already grappling with increasing security challenges.
