UK to Review £100 Billion Frozen Biafran Assets
The UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer Says They Are Finalizing Plans To Review £100 Billion In Frozen Biafran-Era Assets Allegedly Belonging To Igbos During The Biafra War
The UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has indicated that his government is “rounding up final consultations” on long-standing issues surrounding frozen Biafran assets dating back to the Nigeria–Biafra war.
The British government is reviewing documents linked to what activists describe as “over £100 billion worth of Biafran assets frozen during the civil war.” Analysts warn that figures being mentioned remain unverified, but the conversation has already ignited heated debate.
An Igbo rights advocate in London commented:
“If the UK is finally looking into these historic assets, it will be one of the biggest justice moves in decades. But we need clarity and official confirmation.”
Another observer added:
“For years, people have demanded transparency on what exactly happened to Biafran-linked holdings during the war. Even the conversation resurfacing is a major development.”
